Reflections of Life

He who dwells in the secret place of the Highest shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalms 91:1-2
“Angela”

Angela Kemp was born on June 29, 1965 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Lillie Peters. Lillie later relocated Angela to Columbia, MS and married Major Peters who became one with Angela and known to her as “Dad”. Angela received her school scholastic education within the Columbia school system and later graduated from Columbia High School with the class of 1983. During her high school years Angela was an active member of the CHS Wildcats Marching Band and baseball team. From high school she received an academic scholarship to further her education at Jackson State University. Early in life Angela gave birth to two beautiful children, Kiange and Eric, whom she loved and adored. Later in life God blessed her with Little Miss Sydni Hinton, her granddaughter, who ultimately stole her heart.

Angela’s passion for children was exemplified through her eagerness to build her career around them at every opportunity that was presented to her. Angela also worked with the Mississippi Department of Corrections in Jackson, Mississippi and Columbia, Mississippi.

Angela fulfilled her Christian duties at word of Faith Christian Center in Hattiesburg and Jackson, MS before joining New Life Fellowship Church in Columbia, MS where she was an active member until her transition to her heavenly home. Angela enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and New Orleans Saints Football. Angela was dedicated to making sure that her family both blood related and non-blood related knew that she loved each of them dearly. Family and friends were Angela’s passion and delight. Her motto was “Family is not an important thing; it is everything”.

On September 29, 2016, in Columbia, MS, surrounded by a praying family, Angela was called home to be with The Lord. She was preceded in death by both her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Angela leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Eric O’Korean Kemp of Detroit, Michigan; her daughter, Kiange Kemp of Huntsville, Alabama; her granddaughter, Sydni Hinton of Detroit, Michigan; her mother, Lillie Peters of Columbia, Mississippi; her Dad, Major Peters of Columbia, Mississippi; her brother, Darion Peters of Columbia, Mississippi; her sister, Lashonda Ball of Columbia, Mississippi and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
