|Reverend Melvin C. Miller of Gastonia, North Carolina was born September 12, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and God called him home on Monday, October 24, 2016 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Melvin Ricardo Miller and Marion Lee Miller. He was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick M. Miller and brother-in-law, Towand Noble.
He attended Second Macedonia Baptist Church in Philadelphia. In 1990 he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and joined Word Alive Christian Center and helped out at Agape Outreach Center within the church. While there he volunteered at the Helping Up Mission for Men and headed the Prayer Band. He also evangelized on the streets and later met and married Howvetta Rouse on March 4, 1993. In 2006 they moved to Gastonia, North Carolina and met Apostle Willie Rhames of Wilmington, North Carolina who became their spiritual mother and ordained them as pastors. While in Gastonia, North Carolina they joined Life International Church, Ballantyne, under the leadership of Apostle Terrell Murphy.
He graduated from Olney High School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania “Class of 1979”. He also attended WTTI Academy in Philadelphia and received a certificate, then he went on to earn his associate degree in Welding. In Philadelphia he owed a K and M Grocery Store who catered to the community, located on Loundon and 13th Street for five years. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, touch ball and basketball. But the joy of his heart was evangelism. He loved Philly Cheese Steaks and Chicken Boxes.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty-three years, Howvetta Miller; one daughter, Rinita Miller; four sons, Melvin Miller and Ar’sell Miller, Heuy and Artartus Rouse (Rochelle); two sisters, Shelly Miller Noble and Kathy Miller Bundy; one brother, Zachary K. Miller; sisters-in-law, Reverend Ila Ham, Shirley Johnson, Katrina Williams, Sandra Battle and Janice Battle; brothers-in-law, Vincent Bundy, William Johnson and Ellis Jenkins; aunts, Roslyn Johnson and Evelyn Ferguson; uncle, Lewis Johnson; grandchildren, Naios, Andrian, AJ, Ryan, Brandon and Daryn; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
