The life of Elder Clide Conerly, Sr.

Elder Clide Conerly, Sr. life began on October 3, 1942 and ended on October 8, 2016. Clide was born in Marion County, Mississippi to the late Clide “Paw” Conerly and Viola “Reese” Conerly.

Clide was the baby boy of 13 siblings and attended school at Marion Central. Being the baby came with benefits of being raised and spoiled by the older sibling. He moved to New Orleans, LA and became employed as a longshoreman on the riverfront. He retired in 1995 after completing over 29 years of dedicated employment. Additionally, he worked with the Marion County School District as a bus driver.

In 1960, he met the love of his life. He whisked her away and married her on November 23, 1962. Beulah Mae Alfred of Marion County and Clide’s life was meant to be. The young enthusiastic and energized couple were madly in love, when you saw one you would see the other close by. The young couple moved to New Orleans and started their own family tree. Clide was always known for his tasted in style and always dressed for the occasion. He was a “real cool dude” and went by the nicknames “Dickie” and “Tippy”.

In August of 1982, his life was change forever. The summer of that year , he, like the Apostle Paul, met the Risen Savior! He gave his life to God. As a youth, he was a member of the Little Rock M.B. Church. One day on the way home from church, his curiosity for a small Pentecostal church caused him to turn for a visit. The bible declares that the New Jerusalem church of God in Christ was the name if that Pentecostal Church. God was at work! God had a new assignment for him and he accepted his call to ministry under the leadership of the late pastor Frank Smith. In 1987 he was licensed. The pastoral mantel fell on him in 1987 and he planted his first church, Kokomo Mission COGIC. In 1990, he was elevated from licensed minister to ordained Elder. The anointing on his life would elevate him yet again as he was appointed as pastor of New Jerusalem COGIC.

He leaves to cherish his life, his beautiful wife of 53 years, 11 months and 8 days Missionary Beulah Conerly of Foxworth, MS. His children, one daughter, Jennifer of San Antonio, TX, two sons, Clyde Jr.(Stephanie) of Niceville, FL, and Joseph (Phenicia) of Foxworth, MS. 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces , nephews, and God-Children. He leaves a host of relatives and friends
