Mr. Shelton “Lo” Washington, of Louisville, Georgia departed this life Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.

Mr. Washington was a native of Jefferson County. He was born the son to the parentage of the late Mildred “Dolly” Washington and Willie Lee Ponder, Sr. At an early age he joined and worshipped with the Christian Family at the Woodlawn Missionary Baptist Church, and was formally employed with Howard Shephard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Michael Washington and David Washington.

Survivors include his daughter; Latisha Holliday, Wrens, Georgia, brothers; Barry Washington, Louisville, Georgia, Keith Washington, Gibson, Georgia, Patrick (Fedonia) Washington, Waynesboro, Georgia, Master Chief Willie L. Ponder, Jr., Norfolk, Virginia, and Garron (LaQuinette) Ponder, Louisville, Georgia, sisters; Marry Ann Johnson, Augusta, Georgia, Laura Michelle (Wallace) Nelson, Louisville, Georgia, and Vaneka (Anthony) Newsome, Albany, Georgia, three grandchildren, aunts and uncles; Emma L. Smith, Essie M. Thompson, Mattie Washington, Louisville, Georgia, Lenora Ivey, Augusta, Georgia, Robert (Elizabeth) Ponder, Sr., Atlanta, Georgia, Ronnie (Louise) Ponder, Annie Dixon, Louisville, Georgia, and Gloriastine (Larry) Davis, Atlanta, Georgia, great aunt; Minnie (Gene) Simmons, Miami, Florida, children reared as his own; Ashely Washington, Clinton Washington, Augusta, Georgia, and Lakenya Reese, Milledgeville, Georgia, affectionate friend; Jeanette Hickson, Augusta, Georgia, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 1:30 PM at the James and Virginia Davis Memorial Chapel, 727 Beech Street, Louisville, Georgia 30434 with Reverend Robert Stokes as Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery, Louisville, Georgia.
