Johnnie Devon Williams was born on July 20, 1949 to the late Johnnie and Marie Jenkins Williams in Burke County, (Vidette) Georgia.  At an early age, she joined the St. Matthews A. M.E. Church in Louisville and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She rededicated her life to Christ prior to her passing on December 12, 2016.

“JD”, as she was affectionately called, attended Jefferson County public schools and later continued her education with the Job Corps in Oregon.   After returning to Georgia she resided in Atlanta for many years, working and raising her family before returning to Jefferson County.

JD never met a stranger and was loved by everyone that knew her.   She had a way of commanding any room she entered with her infectious smile and feisty personality.  JD stood solid in her beliefs and was courageous in her truth.  She was blessed to have the fortitude to tell anyone not only what they wanted to hear but what they needed to hear. Her truth was deeply rooted in her unwavering love for people and she freely shared her blessing with us all.   Family was paramount to JD, her greatest joy was being a Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister and Friend. She was the undeniable pillar and heart of the Williams family and will be greatly missed.

JD is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lenton Mack Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Venus R. Brown of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Sheldon Williams (Aiesha) of Toledo, Ohio. Grandchildren: Maya Clark, Kayla Brown, Rodney Brown Jr., Sheldon Williams Jr., Mekhi Williams, Da’jahn Baker and Jahn’da Williams. Siblings: Daisy M. Walker, Alice Green (Thomas) of Conyers Georgia, and Larkin Williams Sr. (Faye) of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Jones Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5064 US Highway 1 North, Louisville, Georgia. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Larken, Daisy, Alice, Venous, Sheldon, Betty, Gwen, & all family & friends, It was so good to see some of you again, catch up on old times. I have so many good memories of times spent at Ms. Marie's home, and so many memories of JD. You all are like a second family to me and I will never forget all the good times we've had together. JD had a whole other network of friends in Augusta GA. We may have lost touch over the years, but friends here were always asking about her and talking about old time and memories made together. We could always pick up where we left off. Celebrate JD's life, that's what she would want. She always celebrated the entire month of July for her birthday. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and God of all comfort." II Corinthians 1: 3 Rest in peace our friend, it's time to rest...........
