Mr. Wesley A. Gordon, Jr., was born December 16, 1931 in Gaston County, North Carolina  to the late Wesley Allen Gordon, Sr. and Pearl Holmes Gordon.  Wes transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home in Gastonia, North Carolina.  

For many years “Wes” was a member of Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, Gastonia, North Carolina where he served on the Trustee Board, Steward and Usher Board.  Wes loved Jesus, studying God’s word and He loved his family deeply.   

Wes provided forty-six years of dedicated service to the City of Gastonia, North Carolina.  He was a Mason who enjoyed Bowling and Fishing.

Besides his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Barber and Elfredia Matthews.

He leave to cherish precious memories his wife of thirty-seven years, Era Gordon; children, Mario Gordon (Angela), Jeffery McDowell and Allison McDowell; five step children, three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church
Highway 321 South (Going towards Clover, S.C. that sits on the hill)
Gastonia, N.C.  

Saturday, December 31, 2016 @ 2:00 P.M.

The family will receive friends at the church for thirty minutes prior to funeral.
(1:30 until 2:00 p.m.)

    WA as we called him will truly be missed. He used to play Tic Tac Toe with us for hours, when he'd visit our sick Grandmother with Aunt Betty and Aunt Ida. Will be praying for the family.

    So very sorry for your loss. Please know that the bible provides comfort during times such as these. Psalm 34:18 says that Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted. In Revelation 21:3,4 it says that God will do away with pain and death. Please read these scriptures for comfort and hope.
