THE HONORABLE MARJORIE TERRY GAINEY

The Honorable Marjorie T. Gainey was born September 11, 1948 to Robert Pratt and Thelma Terry in Morven, Anson County, North Carolina.

She attended the public schools of Anson County.  After graduation, Marjorie matriculated to Barber Scotia University, Concord, North Carolina and received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  Shortly after receiving her degree, she entered the field of Law Enforcement working as a Patrol Officer with the Wadesboro Police Department.  After approximately 15 years of dedicated service, she left the police department to become the “First” Director of the Anson County (911) Emergency Communications Center.  Furthering her career, Marjorie accepted the Judicial Appointment to serve as a Magistrate of Anson County.    She then ascended to become the Chief Magistrate of Anson County. The Honorable Marjorie T. Gainey officially retired in October, 2013 after having served over 30 years in Law Enforcement.

She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Morven, North Carolina.

On June 14, 1965, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Acie Gainey.  To this union two sons were born.

In her leisure, she enjoyed taking long rides with her husband and spending time with her family.

Marjorie departed this life on January 24, 2017. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; sister, Robin Terry; brother, Nelson Terry; and sister, Imogene Pegues.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 51 years of marriage, Acie; her loving sons, Acie (Fe) and Adrian (Tonya). One brother, Robert Terry (Winifer) and one sister, Cheryl West. Two grandchildren Ashley Pointe (Chris) and Amya’.  A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

The Homegoing Services were held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, 1:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Burial  followed in the family plot of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.
