Pastor Freddy “Fred” Kelly, a man of great faith who was affectionately known as “Pompy and Pete” was born on June 2, 1940 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Rhunette Moore and the late Charles P. Kelly, Jr.
He spent his early years in St. Petersburg and eventually moved to Miami, Florida where he attended Miami Northwestern High School. Fred was a member of the Basketball and Football teams. He graduated in the class of 1958. Upon graduation, he entered the military, U.S. Army Branch where he was later honorably discharged. Throughout his life, Fred was known for his outgoing personality, kindness and his love of “Sweet Potato Pie”-which he ate with a spoon. He also enjoyed watching sports, listening to jazz, playing pinochle and spending time with his beloved family. After living in Miami, Florida for many years, Fred relocated to Quitman and Thomasville, Georgia, his home for more than thirty years. While in Georgia, he received the call to “Preach the Gospel”/
Pastor Kelly was an Itinerary Elder from the Illustrious AME Church of the Sixth Episcopal District where he pastored several churches in Georgia during his twenty-one years of service. In June 2006, he heard the voice of the Lord “I AM doing a new thing in your life” I have called you to go and teach all people of all walks of life, make disciples baptizing them in the Name of The Father, and The Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and, I AM with you always. Upon hearing this words, Pastor arose with fire and determination to minister to everyone everywhere he went, praying and leading them into the sinner’s prayers in the Name of Jesus Christ. He was a MARKET PLACE MINISTER—a witness for Christ, evangelizing everywhere he went. Preaching and teaching  everywhere doors opened, he walked through them. After many years of working for the Lord and through His anointed and divine providence, Pastor Fred Kelly  and Pamela Kelly founded the Guiding Hope Ministries “A PLACE WHERE LOVE GROWS” The Church of Irresistible Influence building Kingdom lives; Teaching Kingdom Principles and Preparing The Elect Lady for our soon coming KING. The Guiding Hope Ministries is also called the Rainbow Church for our membership is comprised of people of all colors, races, and ethnicities. Pastor Kelly was truly an APOSTLE chosen, anointed and appointed for such a time as this. He has been on the battlefield for the Lord a long time. Pastor Kelly was a true witness for the LORD, meeting no strangers and whenever he saw need, he tried to meet it. He would minster to a Rattlesnake, if he thought it might be saved! We truly believe that Pastor Kelly, in the time allotted to him, fulfilled THE GREAT COMMISION given to him by OUR LORD and TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY for the great things HE has done. His last sermon was “THE FIRE IS COMING MAKE YOURSELF READY”. He was a true Isaiah 52:7 servant: “ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who bring good news of happiness.”
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Prophetess Pamela Cherrington-Kelly; a devoted mother, Rhunette Moore; seven children, Angela R. Kelly, Tania L. Bailey, Vandon M. Kelly, Sr., Takeisha M. Kelly, Kyle T. Kelly, Sr. (Ashley), Kris A. Kelly and Step-Daughter Ruby Cherrington; nine grandchildren, Brittaney V. Bailey, Vandon M. Kelly, Jr., Skye Green, Zion J. Kelly, Iyannah Kelly, Brianna Kelly, Amaiya R. Kelly, Kyle T. Kelly, Jr., and Elijah J. Kelly; two great-grandchildren, Charles Arnold Bailey & Daelyn Bailey; three siblings, Janette K. Maxwell (Bobbie), Charleszette K. Whitlock (R. Thomas) and Kimberly K. Kelly of St. Petersburg, Florida; many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of sorrowing friends.
