Mr. J. C. Slaughter, 94

James Charlie Slaughter (JC), son of the late Eugene and Viola Slaughter was born May 1, 1922 in Pidcock, GA. He was a farmer in Pidcock and married Emma Lou Cason in 1942. They were blessed with one child, Viola Honorine Slaughter. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942 to serve in WWII in Italy. During his service in WWII, he became a Buffalo Soldier. While fighting in battle, JC was injured and was honorably discharged from the Army with two Purple Hearts along with several other special, honorable accommodations.

Upon arrival back at home, he married Bertha Mae Bryant and they remained married until her demise in 2013.

JC was a faithful member of Zion Hill Christian Church (Pidcock) where he served as a deacon and treasurer for many years.

JC leaves a legacy of cherished memories to; his daughter, Viola A. Frazier, Lake Wales, FL; three grandchildren, James D. Frazier, Darryl Frazier and Vanessa Frazier Hawthorne (Tommy), all of Lake Wales, FL; six great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a special nephew, Wilbert Slaughter Jr.; two nieces, Hazel Roberson (Elvin) and Joann Slaughter, all of Valdosta, GA and a long list of friends, including one special friend, Carnelia Cox, who cared for him until his demise.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Church of Perfecting Saints in Quitman with Pastor Calvin Williams presiding and Pastor Carl Dasher officiating.
