Ms. Missie Demps,

Ms. Missie Demps, was born July 13, 1930 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late Mr. Norman Demps, Sr. and Mrs. Linnie Demps. She was the fourth child of nine children born to this union. Her siblings, Manning Demps, Effie McGhee, Maebell Harrison, a set of twins who died at birth, Norman Demps, Jr., Annie Ruth Goins and Thomas J. Demps (TJ) all preceded her in death.

She was raised and educated in Brooks County. She enjoyed the labors of domestic employment, while raising her four loving children.  She passed from this earthly life on January 23, 2017.

She leaves to cherish her memories; four children, Laura Thomas (Godfrey), Quitman, GA, Linda Sherman (Robert), Hahira, GA, Leroy Demps, Sr. (Shirley), Valdosta, GA and Pastor Floyd W. Demps (Louella), Dixie, GA; 18 grandchildren, Angela Walker, Denise Sutton, Tanita Register, Chaquita Oscar, Leroy Demps, Jr., Robert Sherman, Jr., Frederick Thomas, Latrese Calloway, Antonio Sherman, Belinda Robinson, Barbara Jean Sherman, Jeremy Thomas, Roberta Law, Pamela Brinson, Christine Sherman, Jeffery Demps, Ronald Sirmans and Terrance Sirmans, Sr.; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Demps, Fuquay, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted us with the care of our mother. WE LOVE YOU ALL!

Funeral services were Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Mt. Hope M.B. Church in Quitman with Pastor Calvin Williams officiating. Burial followed in the North End Cemetery in Quitman.
