Sarah Rush Martin was born on April 6, 1947 to the late Walter Rush and Pecolia Bostic.  She departed this life on February 2, 2017.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Martin; her daughter, Debbie Nicholson; and brother, Bealie Stancil Jr.


Sarah graduated from Mineral Springs High School.  She was married to the late Alfonso Martin. 


She worked at Spring Mills for 14+ years, then at Richmond Yarns where she retired.  It was after retirement when Sarah pursued her passion for cooking.  She was known for cooking at places like the Ellerbe Diner and Dixie Burger.  You could always tell when Sarah was cooking because the food would just melt in your mouth.


Sarah gave her life to Christ early on.  She was an active member in her church, Sidney Grove Church of Deliverance.  She served as President of the Hospitality Committee and as active member of the Women of Faith and Booster Club.


Sarah was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. 


She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Robert (Tamara) Rush of Ellerbe, NC, Kathy Rush of Greensboro, NC, Frankie (Brenda) Martin of Rockingham, NC, Cynthia Martin of Ellerbe, NC, Calvin Martin of the home and Donna Martin of Ellerbe, NC.  Nine grandchildren, Christopher, Rasheka, Franklin, Linda, Brandy, Raneka, La’Quavius, Antwan and Robert Jr.  One great grandchild, Jamir.  A very special aunt, Jessie Mae Clinton.  One sister-in-law, Deborah Stancil.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


 The Homegoing Celebration will be on Thursday, February 9, 2017, 2:00pm, Sidney Grove Church of Deliverance, Ellerbe, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the family plot of the church cemetery.
