James (Jamie) McCoy Teachey, III of Chapel Hill, NC, died peacefully in his home on February 6, 2017.
He was born May 9, 1970 to James McCoy Teachey, Jr, (deceased), and Nan Barbour of Burlington, NC. He attended Walter Williams High School in Burlington and the University of Georgia. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Duke Hospital in Durham NC, in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care where he shared his considerable compassion and competence deeply appreciated by many children and their parents. Jamie loved the beach, walking in nature and had a deep faith in God. He was a member of The Chapel of the Cross, Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, NC.
Jamie is survived by his sister, Tracy Sturdivant and her husband Mark Sturdivant of Raleigh, NC, stepsisters Karen Smith of Hendersonville, NC, Lynn Dinkins of Atlanta, GA, stepbrothers Parker Barbour, Dan Barbour, Matt Barbour, Jon Spillman and Chris Spillman.
We will celebrate his life at a memorial service Saturday February 11, at The Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill NC, at 2:00pm. A reception will be held after the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Chapel of the Cross, - Memorials, 304 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill NC 27514, in appreciation of the profound spiritual blessings the church and its representatives provided Jamie in health and in sickness.
