MRS. TOMMIE LEE PRATT

Our precious gift from God, our backbone of the family passed on to her heavenly reward on Saturday, February 11, 2017.  She leaves behind love and wisdom that she shared with many.

Mrs. Tommie Lee Pratt was born in Anson County on March 22, 1925 to the late Jacob Thomas Little and Julia Leak.

She attended the Anson County Public School system.  She was a dedicated manager for the McRae Elementary School’s Cafeteria for 40 years where she walked over 3 miles a day with five bad grandkids to deliver the deposits to the local bank.  She loved and cared for many students throughout her days of work for the Anson County School system.

She confessed Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where she faithfully served as a deaconess and choir member.  Because of long years of hard work and dedication, she was crowned Mother of the Church.  This was not only a title but also the way many saw her in the church family.

In 1946, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Tee Pratt.  To this union four sons where born.  One son, Everett Pratt preceded her in death.  She leaves to celebrate her memory, Houston (Beulah) Pratt, Donnie (Synetha) Pratt, Larry Pratt  and a granddaughter she raised, Tonya (James) McCormick all of Morven, NC. Two other daughters-in-law, Mary Francis Pratt of Charlotte, NC and Diane Pratt of Morven, NC. She was also blessed to have a special great granddaughter, Yaniya Marshall who took great care of her in the home.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Dionnya Pratt of Morven, NC, Derrick Chambers of Raeford, NC, Sophia Pratt of Charlotte, NC,  Larry Pratt Jr. Of Polkton, NC, Houston  Jr. (Margie) Pratt of Polkton, NC,  Bagina McLendon of Morven, NC, Fentress (Carl)  Lindsey of Charlotte, NC,  Altavious Pratt of Raleigh, NC; 20 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.  Three sisters, Carolyn (Roosevelt) Lee, Shelby J. Washington of Morven, NC and Rose O. Gordon of Chesterfield, SC; and a special sister cousin, Eva Bennett of Morven, NC.  One brother, J. Houston Robinson and two sisters, Evelma Moses and Betsy M. Ratliff, presided her in death.  She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish her memories.

Ma, Grandma or Ms. Tommie Lee was known by many for her sense of humor and her great dance moves.  She always had something to say that would put a smile on your face but words of wisdom that made your life better.  The love from Ms. Tommie Lee was rare and cannot be replaced and will always be a part of our heart.

The Homegoing Celebration for Mother Pratt will be on Friday, February 17, 2017, 1:00pm, Harris Chapel AME Zion Church, Morven, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the Family Plot of the Galilee AME Zion Church Cemetery, McFarlan, North Carolina.

The Pratt Family will be receiving friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 12:30-1:00pm at Harris Chapel AME Zion Church, Morven, North Carolina.
