YOUNGSTOWN - A funeral service celebrating the life of Deacon John B. Copeland will be held Friday at noon at the Shiloh Baptist Church. 
Mr. Copeland departed this life Feb. 9, 2017, St Elizabeth Boardman Health Care Center. 
Mr. Copeland was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Charlotte, N.C., a son of John and Dorothy Walker Copeland coming to the Mahoning Valley many years ago. 
He was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a trustee and former chairman of the Deacon board. He was a member of the Mahoning Shenango Valley Deacon’s Association where he served as a trustee. He was formerly employed with Commerical Shearing as a laborer retiring years of loyal service.
He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and loving father who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. 
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, James “JC,” Sean and Larry Copeland, Tony (Crystal) Copeland, Clarence (Nellie) Kitchen, Terry and William Henry Kitchen, Oscar (La’Juan) Kitchen, and Arlene Bush, Leila Williams; his godson, Joseph McClendon; his grandson, Allen Woodall; a host of other relatives including his sister-in-law, Frances DuVal; his sister; nephew Leon Shine; his niece, Tonjia Bradley; and faithful companion, his dog, Unique. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fannie M. Kitchen Copeland, whom he married Nov. 20, 1969; his children, Keith Copeland, Betty Shelton and Terry Kitchen. 
The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church.
