Frances Dunbar was born September 21, 1930 to L.D. and Winnie Prater in Piedmont, Alabama.  She was the eldest of two children.  She married Robert L. Dunbar and gave birth to three children.  On Friday, February 17, 2017, Frances received her Master’s Call. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Dunbar, parents, and sibling Stanley B. Prater.

Frances was one of a kind.  She never met a stranger and gave love with a smile to everyone she encountered. God blessed us to have HIS angel in our lives for many wonderful years.  HE decided to call her home, but she will always be our guardian angel watching over us. She leaves a legacy that is too awesome for anyone to follow.  She taught us about love, kindness, and humility.  She was one of the sweetest individuals to ever walk this earth and everyone loved her. She was truly a virtuous woman.

Frances lived her life with purpose and was a shining light for all to see. Many called her “Madea”, but her children knew her as “Mother Dear.”  She grew up in Piedmont and enjoyed playing basketball and other sports with her school mates.  She was extremely smart and loved doing mathematical equations in her head.  She always said, “never use a calculator” because no one can take it away from you, “if you have it in your head.”  There are so many wonderful memories of Frances and actions of her helping others. All of her life, she made sacrifices for her family and friends and never complained.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lomax, Lawrenceville, GA., sons Robert Dunbar (Kim), Piedmont, AL. and Tyrone Dunbar, Atlanta, GA.  She leaves a wonderful sister-in-law Mamie Prater, South Hampton, New Jersey, and a cousin Shirley Morris, Anniston, AL.  Much-loved grandchildren; Nicholas Lomax (Shawna), Norcross, GA. Janean Lomax, Buford, GA. Brian Lomax, Lawrenceville, GA., Tyronda Diamond, Piedmont, AL., Shanell Dunbar, Piedmont, AL., Taran Swain, Piedmont, AL., Sarandon Dunbar, Piedmont, AL., Leslie (Frank) Truitt, Atlanta, GA., and Jamie Glenn, Atlanta, GA., a treasured great-grandchild, Jaden Lomax, Buford, GA., two very special ladies who she loved and considered her daughters, Connie Weaver and Karen McCloud, Piedmont, AL., and a host of other family and friends.

Frances Dunbar had a walk with God that was extremely close.  She always said how she wanted to leave this earth, and God granted every wish that she desired.  He called her home peacefully in her sleep.  She was an angel who God welcomed into Heaven and said well-done thy good and faithful servant. She will be loved forever and missed by all.

I'm sorry to hear of about the passing of Frances. It is a tough time to go through. May you find comfort in the Words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: " God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Isn't good to know that God is ready to be there for us when we need him most. He also has promised a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 39). What a great hope we have. This is not just mere dream but Isaiah 55:11 assures us it will take place because everything God promises he accomplishes. You may find more about this resurrection online at jw.org All my condolences to you and yours.
