Mary Magdalene Dantzler
April 4, 1941~February 25, 2017

And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
St. Luke 8:52

Mary M. Dantzler was born on April 6, 1941 to the late Jasper and Flora Loftin of Bassfield, MS. During her childhood, Mary was never without love or company, because she had 12 more siblings to be with. As a grown up, Mary moved to Columbia, Mississippi where she met and married the late Moses Dantzler and they raised two sons and one daughter. This is when she became “Aunt Lena” to most, and eventually all who knew her. A few years later they welcomed four more daughters to the family and loved them beyond measure. In 1980, Mary took hold of God’s unchanging hand and never let go. She became a dedicated active sister and mother of the church at Columbia Assembly Apostolic Pentecostal Church where she worked tirelessly; to witness and teach others about how good God is and was in her life. Aunt Lena will be greatly missed by so many, especially the people who had the privilege to know and love her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Moses; children, James Earl, Juanita, and Arthur Ray; who are still being missed at this moment.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her daughter Alicia L. Dantzler; Porsha and a very dedicated and loving son Lawal Owokunle; Linda Lee, Floretta Lowe all of Columbia, MS, Shellar and a very loving son-in-law Wayne Currie of Scranton, PA, Carylon Jackson of Detroit MI, and Dorris Lee of Columbia SC. Four sisters: Pastor Corine (Herkley, Jr.) Alford, Mrs. Eva I (Anthony)Abram, Mrs. Mattie Thompson all of Columbia MS, and Mrs. Dorothy L. Barnes of Scranton PA. Mary “Aunt Lena” also leaves a legacy of loved ones who will miss her dearly; including a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many, many acquaintances.

We are so sorry to hear of Ms. Dantzler's passing. This must be a difficult time for your family, but you can take comfort in the hope that our Heavenly Father holds out to us. He promises that we will never have to part with our loved ones, and we will live under perfect conditions, as described in the Bible at John 5:28,29; Isaiah 65:20-25; and Revelation 21:3,4. May you take a measure of comfort in these divine promises in the days to come. Take care.
