Dear Thornhill family, you all have my sympathy. The death of a loved one causes us deep pain. At Jeremiah 31:13, Almighty God has promised, "I will change their mourning into exultation. I will comfort them and give them joy instead of their grief." No doubt you look forward to the fulfillment of that promise. Until then, you can fully rely on "the God of tender mercies and the God of all comfort" to give you the strength and endurance to cope during this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3)

I know it's hard losing someone you love in death, but the memories of that love one, will last forever in your heart and mind. May you find comfort in the scripture which speaks of God, being the God of all comfort who never intended for anyone to fall asleep in death. It's also comforting to know that your loved one is also remembered by God, such a wonderful provision. - 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 May this article provide you some comfort: https://www.jw.org/finder?pub=wp16&issue=201609&wtlocale=E&srcid=share

I would like to offer my condolences to the Thornhill family. 73 years is quite an accomplishment according to the Bible (Psalm 90:10) and I know Lorna has left you with many precious memories and will be greatly missed. Hopefully this scripture will give you comfort because Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18) is promising us he will do away with man's worst enemy, death. This is found for us at Rev. 21: 4; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." The Bible also enlightens us at Hebrews 2:14 "so that through his (Jesus) death, he (Jesus) might bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil." For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises including the resurrection. John 6: 40 tells us: "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day." Also, Titus 1: 2 tells us this promise of a resurrection: "is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago. Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live......And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever. For Jehovah himself has spoken it." This is a wonderful promise made to us by our heavenly father and I pray it brings you comfort and hope. Jehovah invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Again, I offer my sincere condolences to the family. I am very sorry for your loss. However, Almighty God has provided a guarantee of a resurrection to all people in His memory by resurrecting Jesus from the dead. (Psalm 83:18; Acts 17:31) We will be able to see our loved ones again on a restored earth. (Psalm 37:11, 29)  I hope this brings you peace.
