William "Bip" Edward Becton, Sr., 74, of 2408 Moore Avenue, New Bern died Monday, March 20, 2017 at his residence.

He was formerly employed at Heilig Levine Furniture Store.

His funeral service is 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Pilgrim Chapel FWB Church 2420 Hwy. 55 W, New Bern.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Arnetta B. Becton of the home; four sons, William E. Becton, Oriental, Shawn Becton, New Bern, Aaron Becton, Vanceboro, Walter Ellison of New Bern; one daughter, Roberta Ellison, New Bern; one step-son, Milo Bryant, Indiana; five step-daughters, Nancy Allen, Erlinda Dobson, Yvonne E. Hargett, Patricia Jenkins and Tonya Bryant; one sister, Lillie Ruth Taylor of New Bern; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence.  Viewing hours are Friday, March 24, 2017 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Oscar's Mortuary.

    I am sending my condolences to the family. When someone we love dies its very painful. But the Bible talks about God doing away with pain at Rev 21:4. May the God of comfort provide solace to your family at this time.
