MRS. MARY JULIA POLK CROWDER

Mrs. Mary Julia Polk Crowder was born on April 12, 1939 in Peachland, NC to the late Leroy Polk and Emmer Lee Buchanan Polk.  She went to see her Lord on March 24, 2017 at Anson Rehabilitation Health Center, Wadesboro, NC.

At an early age, Mary confessed her faith and joined New Zion Baptist Church in Peachland.  She served faithfully until her health declined.  She served as Secretary of the Sunday School Department, sang on the Hymn and Mass Choirs and was a faithful member of the Missionary Department.  Mary had a big and giving “Heart” and truly enjoyed working with her Church Family.

Mary attended East Polkton School and later received her High School Diploma from a school in Monroe, NC.

She worked for many years at Central Soyer and Cuddy Foods.  She was well-versed in marketing different products including Life Insurance Policies.

Mary was married to Franklin Crowder who predeceased her on December 26, 2009.  To this union, six children were born.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving children: Rita Crowder, Huntersville Oaks-Charlotte,  Bobby (Belinda) of Wadesboro, James, Antonio, Benita Crowder and Kimberly Colston (Timothy) all of Peachland.  18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Six siblings:  Magnolia Sturdivant of Wadesboro; Purcell Polk (Hazel) of Charlotte; John Polk (Angelia) of High Point; Helen Sturdivant of Charlotte; Louis Polk of Washington, DC; and Doris Polk of Monroe.  One uncle, Jack Buchanan of Peachland; one aunt, Mary Frances Lee of Monroe.  Four sisters-in-law, Mary Price and Shirley Crowder of Asheboro, Geraldine Huntley (John) of Wingate and Eva Brewer (Thomas) of Charlotte.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Two special friends, Sarah Staton and Mattie Crowder.


 The Homegoing Services will be on Friday, March 31, 2017, 2:30pm, New Zion Baptist Church, Peachland, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the family plot of Williams Cemetery, Polkton, North Carolina.

The Crowder Family will greet family and friends on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 2:00-2:30pm at New Zion Baptist Church.
