Mrs. Betty Mathews, 57, of 1201 Ingersoll Drive D-5, Phenix City, AL passed Friday, March 31, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Greater Bethelpore Baptist Church, Bleeker, AL with Isaiah Sumbry, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 1 - 8 p.m. EST .

Mrs. Mathews was born July 16, 1959 in Phenix City, AL to the late Mary Lee Murphy. She was a member of Greater Bethelpore Baptist Church. 

Survivors include one son, Lugene (Jennifer) Mathews, III of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Diane Hill and Wanda Murphy both of Phenix City, AL; former husband, Lugene Mathews, Jr.; six grandchildren, Christian Harris, Brondon Harris, Stephanie Harris, Zackery Harris, Adrain Harris and Aljawon Harris all of Phenix City, AL; a host of other relatives and friends.

    I am sorry for your loss. I wanted to share a comforting scripture with you. Revelation 21:4 tells about a time when death and pain will be done away with. We can definitely look forward to a better future. I am sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to you. God is always here for us.
