MR. DERRICK LEDBETTER

Mr. Derrick Lewis Ledbetter, son of the late Morgan E. Melton and Betty Ledbetter Sturdivant, was born into this world on April 19, 1972.  God in His infinite wisdom called him home on April 09, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Derrick was employed by Consolidated Metco Inc. in Monroe, North Carolina until his health failed him.

If you knew “Wildman” he was loving, strong, took care of his family, and as real as it gets.

Derrick is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Georgianna Ledbetter; paternal grandfather, Dewitt Melton; aunts, Annie Belle Medley and Marie McIver; and uncles, Curtis Ledbetter, Paul Ledbetter, and Robert Ledbetter.

Derrick leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Chanel Redfearn Ledbetter of the home, one daughter, Destiny Kyele’ Ledbetter of the home, one son, Derrick Lewis Ledbetter, Jr., Wadesboro, NC; mother, Betty Ledbetter Sturdivant, Wadesboro, NC; one sister, Nefertia Ledbetter, Wadesboro, NC; grandmother, Lucille Melton, Morven, NC; father and mother-in-law, Fulton and Carol Redfearn, Wadesboro, NC; two sisters-in-law, Victoria Copeland and Coretta Copeland Smith (Haywood), Wadesboro, NC; one brother-in-law, George Dunlap (Jackie), Wadesboro, NC.

Six uncles, James Ledbetter, Polkton, NC, BJ McCoy (Lou Etta), Lancaster, SC, Lewitt Melton (Mary), Wadesboro, NC, Calvin Melton, Lilesville, NC, Richard Melton, Charlotte, NC and Tyler Redfearn, Wadesboro, NC; fourteen aunts, Fannie Mae Ledbetter, Wadesboro, NC, Mondru Walton, Wadesboro, NC, Rosetta Ratliff, Polkton, NC, Georgia Teal, Wadesboro, NC, Bobbie Lindsey, Wadesboro, NC, Cheryl Little (Lorenzo), Charlotte, NC, Carol Davis (Thomas), Charlotte, NC, Angela Melton, Morven, NC, Montina Redfearn, Wadesboro, NC, Minnie McRae, Wadesboro, NC, Hazel Marshall (Kenneth), Lilesville, NC, Lucille Carelock (Lee Edward), Wingate, NC, Rebecca Copeland, Morven, NC and Hazel Salters, Greensboro, NC.  A host of cousins and many other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, 2017, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the family plot of Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Ledbetter Family will greet family and friends at the residence and on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 12:30-1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel.
