Oscar James Goins, Sr., 91, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Poplarville, Mississippi, passed away on February 28, 2017 after a 4 month illness. Oscar was born on December 2, 1925 to the late Agnes Holland and Stradford Goins. He married his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Yvette Lange Goins on July 7, 1956. Oscar was a retired postal mechanic, WWII Veteran, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was affectionately known by those who loved him as Horse and Poppie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Holland and Stradford Goins, his sister Clair Duffaut, and brothers Carol and Alvin Goins. He is survived by his wife Yvette Lange Goins, brother, Melvin Goins, daughters, Staci Burns (Brian) and Allison Ancar (David Sr.), his sons, Oscar Goins Jr. (Lisa), Stradford Goins Sr. (Tammy) and Gavin Goins Sr. (Giselle). He is also surived by 19 grandchildren, Britany Burns, Brian Burns Jr., Dominique Burns, Gabrielle Kelly (Marshall), Oscar Goins III, Anna Marie Goins, David Ancar Jr., Sidney Ancar, Jeremy Ancar, Courtney Ancar, Casey Ancar, Cassidey Ancar, Alex Borden (Andrew), Stradford Goins Jr, Asa Goins, Gavin Goins Jr., Jessica Williams (Justen), Danielle Goins, and Shane Goins and 5 great grandchildren. Avery Goins, Ryan Moret, Jr., Brayden Williams, Ariya Borden and Andersen Borden. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Poplarville, MS. and former member of St. Gabriel and St. James Major Churches, in New Orleans LA. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and communion service from 6-8pm on Monday, 3/6/17 at St. Joseph Church on 12 Bilbo Hill Dr., Poplarville, MS. along with a mass Christian burial on Tuesday, 3/7/17 at 11am at Our Lady Of The Holy Rosary Church on 3368 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA. visitation is from 9am to 11am. Internment will be at St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue.
