MRS. ILLA MAE CHUBBS PASCHALL was born on January 27, 1936 as the fifth of six descendants to the late William and Clarabell “Carrie” Chubbs. She transitioned from the sorrows and cares of this world to the eternal bliss of joy and peace of heaven’s glory on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.


ILLA was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and united with her family church, Cameron Grove AME Zion Church, Broadway, NC. She served faithfully in many capacities as Sunday School Secretary, a church school delegate and a member of the J. A. McIver Sunday School Class.


ILLA received her formal education in the Lee County Public School      System attending W. B. Wicker School, Sanford, NC, where she graduated in 1956. Her full life took her from the country fields of North Carolina to city life of Baltimore, MD. She was united in marriage to Marcell Webb. Their union was blessed with four children: three daughters and one son. Later in life, she met and married James Paschall of Oxford, NC. Their    harmonious union of thirty plus years was full of joy and bliss. She had a career in food service as a dietician and retired from St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She loved attending professional singing concerts and was an avid cook. Her love of God and people was exhibited through her        delicious meals and desserts.


In addition to her parents, ILLA was preceded in death by one of her daughters, Jacqueline Lee; two brothers, John Chubbs and Harry McIver; and one sister, Elizabeth Cameron.


ILLA will be forever missed by her husband, James Paschal; her three     remaining children, Charlene Chubbs, Rochelle Webb, and Marcell Chubbs of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Sadie L. Blue of Broadway, NC and one brother, William “Billy” Chubbs, Jr. of Suisun City, CA; six grandchildren; nineteen great – grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.

    Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.
