Mrs. Mamie L. Thomas-Solomon, 91

Mamie Lou Tillman Thomas-Solomon was born July 4, 1925 to Luscious and Christine Tillman.  Mamie was the fifth child out of six children and was preceded in death by each of her siblings.

Mamie was married at age 17 to Woodrow “Buddy” Thomas and to their union, three daughters were born: Dorothy Jean Moore, Betty Holloway-Martin (both of Quitman, GA), and Jeanette Brown-Jelks (Jacksonville, FL). She also has a step daughter, Mary Frances Bryant. She was a devoted member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the choir.

She worked at Madison County High School in the cafeteria for 15 years before retiring in 1992.

After the passing of her husband, she married Joe Solomon who also preceded her in death. 

Mamie L. Thomas-Solomon passed away peacefully on, March 31st in Madison, FL. She is survived by her three daughters and step-daughter;  8 grandchildren: Nickey Holloway (Rachel), Dondra Holloway Brinson (Hilton),  Eulonda Washington (Benton) , Selena Holloway (Baby Girl),  Dawn Moore, Consuela Betts, Cedric Jelks, Cameron Jelks and a host of relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services were Friday, April 7, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at New Canaan M.B. Church in Greenville, Florida with Pastor Rodney Irvine officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Condolences may be made by visiting  Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
