~ The Life ~

Myra Frances Silas was born August 23, 1950 in Brooks County, Quitman, Georgia to the late Mr. Carl Newsome, Sr. and Lucille Fulton Jones. She was the third child of seven. She was preceded in death by her son Darren Newsome, her granddaughter Titeannah Mikia Mitchell and her brother Jesse James Newsome, Sr. She was educated in the Brooks County School System. She was a homemaker and wife, raising eight kids and helping to raise her grandkids whom she dearly loved. She joined Evangelizing the Word in where she was a faithful member and became the Mother of the church; always praying for everyone.

She passed from this life on April 22, 2017 at Jacksonville Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful, sweet, lovely smile; her husband of 44 years, James Silas, Sr.; four daughters, Melissa (Orlester) McKinnon, Jr., Barney, GA, Cassandra (Don) Nelson, Valdosta, GA, Flecsia Silas (Shawn), Francena Silas (Marcus); four sons, James Silas, Jr., Timothy Silas, Clifton Silas, Victor Silas all of Quitman, GA; two lovely sisters, Mary Hill, Quitman, GA, Emma (George) Cole, Stone Mountain, GA; three handsome brothers, Wesley (Mary) Newsome, Valdosta, GA, Carl (Marilyn) Newsome, Jr., Quitman, GA, Joseph (Evelyn) Newsome, FL; three uncles, Joe Fulton, Willie Frank Newsome, Jimmy Lee Newsome; twenty -four grand - children; thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special family -in -law, Betty J. Newsome, other family members and lovely friends who love her dearly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11AM at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dorothy Glass, eulogist.  Burial will follow in North End Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 2PM until 8PM.
