Ms. Dorothy Ann Ingram Watkins, daughter of Mrs. Lucy Little and stepdaughter of the late Mr. Albert Little was born August 2, 1948 in Anson County, NC.  She peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 8, 2017 at her residence with her loving daughter, Denise at her side.

Dorothy attended the public schools of Anson County and was a 1967 graduate of West Ansonville School, Ansonville, NC.  She attended Anson Technical College and received a certificate in Health Care. 

She was a faithful member of Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, NC where she served on the Trustee Board.

Dorothy was employed for many years at Collins & Aikman Industries in Norwood and Troy, NC.  Dorothy made many friends while working in those two locations.  She was also employed by the Anson County Sheriff Office, Wadesboro, NC.  There, she worked diligently in many positions and was promoted to Sergeant.   On April 30, 2011, Sergeant Watkins retired after 30+ plus years of loyal and dedicated service.

Left to forever cherish her memory are: her loving and devoted daughter, Denise Watkins Cannon (Gerald) of Ansonville, NC; grandsons, Gerald Cannon Jr. (Toot) and Henry (Lil Henry) of Ansonville, NC; mother, Mrs. Lucy Little of Wadesboro, NC; goddaughter, Tonya Ingram of Ansonville, NC; one brother, Wilbert Ingram Jr. of Ansonville, NC; seven sisters, Rosa Legrand (the late Walter Legrand), Emma Little, Mae Medley and Betty Ingram all of Ansonville, NC, Juanita Davis (Melvin) of Lilesville, NC, Laura Ingram of Wadesboro, NC and Patricia Little of Marshville, NC.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 The Homegoing Celebration to honor the life and legacy of Mrs. Watkins was held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, 1:00pm, Rocky Mount AME Zion Church, Ansonville, North Carolina.  Burial  followed in the family plot of the church cemetery.

    So sorry for your loss. Ms. Watkins was always so sweet when she came into the water department. I'll miss seeing and talking with her. Especially sad for Denise. She was certainly a devoted daughter.
