It is with profound sadness that the death of August J. Roussell Jr. (Jack) is acknowledged. Mr. Roussell passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the age of 78 following a long and courageous battle with his illness. He was the son of the late August J. Roussell Sr. and Irma Barre' Roussell. Mr. Roussell leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Janis T. Roussell and their sons, Jason Mitchell Roussell, Adam August Roussell and daughter in law, Keesha Davis Roussell. Mr. Roussell was affectionately known to his grandchildren, Hannah, Samuel, Addison and Marshall as "Paw Paw". He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Gilmore; brother, Sidney (Merri) Roussell; sister in law, Marva (John) Brown; cousins, Raven Douglas and Sherrie (Cornell) Cole; lifelong friend, Wilmer Jacobs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mr. Roussell was a graduate of Dillard University, where he received his BA Degree in Elementary Education. He was a devoted educator and retired with more than 30 years of service with the Orleans Parish School Board. He was also a skilled house painter. Mr. Roussell was a faithful child of God, a loving husband, excellent father and grandfather, a wonderful son and brother, a mentor to his numerous students, a friend to many and a soul mate to one. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family and friends of St. Joan of Arc Class of "53", Xavier Preparatory class of "57", members of UTNO, LA Retired Teachers Association, Lake Oaks Neighborhood Association, Teamsters Local 27033 988, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Transportation Security Adm. (TSA) are encouraged to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church, 5621 Elysian Fields Ave., New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11 AM. Interment Mt.
