Mr. John Golden, Sr. 63

John Edward Golden, Sr., was born in Brooks County, Quitman, Georgia on September 5, 1953 to the late William and Rebecca Golden.  He was educated in the Brooks County School System.

His employment included Hunter Motors (Bobby Auto Center) Quitman, GA, the Brooks County School System Transportation Department, Quitman, GA and Parkwood Developmental Center, Valdosta, GA.

He was united in holy matrimony to Patricia Freeman on December 9, 1978.  To this union, two children were born.  He greatly enjoyed cooking and gardening.

He passed away on May 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his son, John Edward Golden, Jr.; his sister, Cassie Golden, a sister-in-law, Georgia Mae Golden; and a brother-in-law, Willie Smith.

Precious memories will be cherished and forever by his loving wife, Patricia Golden, Quitman, GA; his loving daughter, Patty Golden McKinnon (Mose), Quitman, GA; a devoted son, Donnell Golden (Shajuana), Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren; six sisters: Mary Smith, Valdosta, GA, Shirley Horton (Alvin), Ernestine Gertman (Matt), Quitman, GA, Beverly Little (Joseph), St. Petersburg, FL, Shirley Hogan (William) and Louise Postell, Valdosta, GA; seven brothers: Frank Golden (Minerva), Richard Golden, Howard Golden (Pinkie) and Willie James Golden (Patricia) all of Quitman, GA; Willie Golden (Joyce), Herman Denson (Lillie) and Aaron Miller (Niecy) all of Valdosta, GA, William Golden (Denise), Atlanta, GA and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at the House of God Church in Valdosta, Georgia with Pastor Edward Mack officiating. Burial followed in the Sweetfield Baptist Church cemetery in Quitman. Condolences may be made by visiting Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
