MRS. SANDRA TAYLOR MILLER

Sandra Inez Miller was born on August 10, 1960, the fourth of eight children born to the late William Otis Taylor and Ola Mae Gatewood Taylor in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.  She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home in Marshville, North Carolina.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, William Otis Taylor; her husband, Johnny Miller; her brother, Reginald Taylor; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sturdivant.

Sandra accepted Christ at an early age and joined Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Marhsville, North Carolina  She later moved her membership to Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Polkton, North Carolina where she served on the Usher Ministry, Sunday School Secretary, Missionary Ministry and faithfully committed her service wherever there was a need until she became unable.  She remained faithful at Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church until her death.

Sandra was a loving, giving and genuine person.  She was known to some by the name of “Murphy” and “Killa.”  She endured through sickness and many struggles in life.  Sandra was truly a Living Testimony.

Sandra was educated in the Union County Public School System.  She was a 1979 graduate of Forest Hills High School, Marshville, North Carolina.  She was employed with Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare, Wingate, North Carolina until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories: one daughter, Toniya Porter (Michael) of Indian Trail, North Carolina; one son, Johnas Miller (Shaunda) of the home; stepson, Anthony McClain of Monroe, North Carolina.  Her mother, Ola Mae Taylor of Marshville, North Carolina.  Eight grandchildren, Jikyan, Iyana, Zion, Josiah, Breyarie, Kemandra, Kemiyah and Jr.  Three brothers, James Taylor, Donald Taylor of Wingate, North Carolina and Mitchell Taylor (Edna) of Camden, South Carolina.  Three sisters, Regina McClendon, Beverly Taylor and Kim Smith (Eddie) all of Marshville, North Carolina.  Godsister, Annette Tyson (Tony) of Marshville, North Carolina.

Two brothers-in-law, Billy Miller (Veronica) of Marbury, Maryland and Nathaniel Miller (Mary) of Pageland, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Janet Marsh (Kenneth) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Teresa Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina and Samantha Allen of Marshville, North Carolina.  One Goddaughter, Jasheika Medley of Lancaster, South Carolina.  Great aunts, Juanita (Jimmy ) Crawford, Louise Tanner, Mildred Staton and Huey Gatewood.

Four high school classmates who were Sandra’s longtime friends, Mrs. Mary Medlin, Mrs. Sherry Crowder, Mrs. Beverly Barrett and Mrs. Sheila McClain.  She also leaves a host of many aunts, uncles, nieces, relatives and friends.


The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 2:00pm, Poplar Hill Baptist Church, Polkton, North Carolina.  Burial will follow in the family plot of the church cemetery.

The Family will greet family and friends on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 1:30-2:00pm at Poplar Hill Baptist Church.
