Lydia Ann Weber Blache entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her residence. She was a native New Orleanian and resided in the 6th and 7th Wards all of her days. She is the daughter of the late Edmond ""ZZ"" and Ethel Smith Weber, and the wife of the late Lionel Joseph Blache Sr. Mrs. Blache put her four children through college and graduate school. After her children were grown, she went back to college and received her master's degree from Tulane University. She worked for the Orleans Parish School Board for forty years before retiring. Her creative didactics influenced students and generations to come. She was a New Orleans Creole and a connoisseur of Creole cuisine. Additionally, she was a ""modiste' par excellence"" with all the positive qualities that emanated from the Creole culture. She was Maris Stella of St. Mary's Academy located in the Vieux Carre' (Old Square) in her senior year. Her modesty far exceeded her multitudinous talents. Her highest attribute is that she was an outstanding wife and mother. A special thanks to Dr. Bronson Lutz, Ochsner-Baptist Hospital, Canon Medical Services, Ms. Paulette Parker, and all respective staff members who assisted, cared for and treated our beloved angel. She leaves to cherish her memories four children: Lionel, Michael, Geraldine and Mabel Blache; Sister Dorothy Roberts; sister-in-law Edna Blache; grandchildren; nieces; nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers and two sisters. Relatives and friends of the family, Faculties of Marie C. Couvent (A.P. Tureaud) Elementary, NOHD, JCHCC and Eleanor McMain Secondary Schools are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave., New Orleans, LA, 70116 on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10:00 AM. Rev. David Begany, S.S.J., officiating. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.
