Mr. James Lewis Davis, the eldest of twelve children, was born on July 30, 1954 in Thomasville, Alabama to the late Carolyn Arnold and Lewis Paul Davis.  He departed this life after an extended illness on June 15, 2017.  He worked as an independent truck driver over 35 years, primarily hauling heavy equipment for the Morgan Engineering Company in Alliance, Ohio. For 23 years during the Christmas season, James, also known as “Big Foot,” dressed up as Santa Claus and along with his partners (Jeff Sklar, Pastor Jesse Hudson and Glenn Rupp) brightened the faces of hundreds of preschool and elementary aged children by providing them with toys for the holiday. He has been featured in the Canton Repository acknowledging his community involvement for this annual toy giveaway event.  Upon retiring as Santa in 2014, he received a proclamation from the Mayor of Canton and encouraged his partners to continue the tradition. It is unknown when James first accepted Christ as His Savior, but he recommitted his life to Christ prior to his departure.Yearly trips to Alabama to visit family were amongst the highlights of James' life, which included fishing as often as possible.  However, what he enjoyed most was watching westerns 24/7 starring Miss Kitty and driving his 18-wheeler for a living.Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Robin Parker-Davis; his children and stepchildren: James Davis, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; Rena Watson of Canton, Ohio; Delonda Harris of Dayton, Ohio; Octavious Davis of Dayton, Ohio;  Justice Davis of Zanesville, Ohio; Albert Parker, III (Jharie) of Brookpark, Ohio; Anthony Parker of Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia;  Four Brothers: Benny Ray Arnold of Thomasville, Alabama; Alex Lee Arnold (Cynthia) of Folkston, Georgia; Reginald Southall of Sunny South, Alabama; Charles (Betty) Southall of Sunny South, Alabama;  Eight sister: Lillie Cora Arnold of Thomasville, Alabama; Lora Arnold Carson of Thomasville, Alabama; Lisa Arnold Towns of Thomasville, Alabama; Ethel Southall of Birmingham, Alabama; Kathryn Southall of Sunny South, Alabama; Linda Southall of Birmingham, Alabama; Pauline Washington of Douglasville, Georgia; and Linda Rabb of Mobile, Alabama.  Also cherishing his memory are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren and friends.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your recent loss. It is a very difficult time for those close to Janes. He certainly was kind hearted. May you find some comfort in the words of Nahum 1:7  which reads: "Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of distress. He is mindful of those seeking refuge in him." Yes, we can totally rely on our Loving God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29, Isaiah 55:11). Then death will be gone forever (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3,4) Find out more about this resurrection online at JW.ORG
