Minister James Crawford of 2400 Payton Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina was born April 19, 1943 in Gaston County, North Carolina and departed this life Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home.  He was the son of the late Robert and Sallie Stowe Crawford.

He joined Boyd Friendship Baptist Church at an early age, and he loved the Lord.  He served on the Usher Board, as a Sunday School Teacher, Van Driver, Trustee Board, Deacon Board and later became the Chairman of the Board.  He was later called into God’s Ministry.

Minister Crawford graduated from Reid High School in Belmont, North Carolina.  He was employed at Beltex Cooperation for thirty years as a Supervisor of the Shipping Department.  He was a devoted husband to his wife Cora Patton Crawford for fifty-three years.  He was also a great father to his children and grandfather to his grands and great grandchildren.  He loved spending time with his family.

Minister James Crawford suffered for many years with his declining health, however he always had a good spirit.  He had no fear of death because he truly knew the Lord.  He has moved into the morning light, where there will be no more pain.  Heaven is his resting place and God is his salvation.  Minister Crawford will be missed by all who really knew him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his older sisters and brothers.

He leaves to cherish fond memories to his loving wife, Reverend Cora P. Crawford of the home; three daughters, Miranda Hinton (Jimmy), Teresa Barnett (Steve) and Belinda C. Owens; one son, James Lamar Crawford; one sister, Lucille McElhaney of Gastonia, N.C.; one brother, Tommy Crawford (Mary) of Belmont, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Martha Crawford of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a host of family and friends.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Death is a very hard thing to have to deal with. The bible does provide us with comfort and hope. Revelation 21:4 says that God will one day do away with pain and death. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. May you find strength from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
