He has made everything beautiful in its time. There is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good…. For there is a time for every purpose and for every work. She extends her hand to the poor, she reaches out her hands to the needy. Strength and honor are her clothing. On her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Let her own works praise her in the gates.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born… and a time to die Alma Louise Wise was born on July 12, 1930 to the parents of the late Macie Wise and Nelson Armstrong; as a precocious child, she quickly earned the nickname Pistol Pete. As she aged she was simply referred to as Pete.  Ms. Pete went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2017 after celebrating her 87th birthday.

a time to heal, a time to build up; In 2010 the doctors pronounced death as her prognosis but God spoke life.  Throughout her years Ms. Pete was active in her community and the church. She was an active and dedicated member of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church for over 70 years. She hosted the local radio program Opportunities for Restoration. Before becoming a licensed minister and evangelist, she worked in the following positions: Sunday School Teacher, Young People President, Choir Director, and Deaconess.  As a licensed minister, she pastored Greater Unity. Late in life she moved her membership to Full Gospel Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Juanita Jackson. There she served as church mother and Evangelist. In her remaining years, she dedicated herself to financially supporting those less fortunate: Smile, TBN, Indian, Cancer, Kidney Foundation. She was employed as a pressor with Quick Way Dry Cleaning Services. However, her passion was found in operating her hat shop and as the proprietor of Pete Will Do It.

and a time to laugh a time to mourn and a time to dance a time to keep silent, and a time to speak: Ms. Pete loved to laugh. She was always the life of any gathering. To the community at large, Ms. Pete always had an open door and welcoming heart. She was the one relative and neighbor with the most kids and the smallest house, yet whenever anyone visited from out of town or had no place to stay, Ms. Pete would find them space in our home. She loved to sing and to laugh. She was always the life of any gathering. She brought a special energy to any conversation. Much like her father, Nelson ‘Nap’ Armstrong, she could tell stories that would have you in stiches. But Ms. Pete was also known to provide comfort and support to those struggling with life issues. She would listen without judging and offer you guidance with her knowledge of the Word of God. If you needed someone to sing at your gathering, she welcomed the opportunity.  For many years she sang with her sisters Gladys and Mary Beth. She became one of the lead singers as a member of the Trulette Gospel Singers. One of her fondest singing memories, however, was the Easter story of earning a nickel from her uncle for singing Bossy Cow in church instead of Jesus Loves Me. Ms. Pete was the mother of many. She loved hard and with tremendous loyalty. Ms. Pete showed love when others shook their heads and walked away.

a time to weep: Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years Samuel Lee Glenn, her son, Samuel Alexander Glenn, both parents, her sisters Gladys Wise Pettus and Mary “MaeBell” Wise Tate, Alice Padgett, and her brother James “Jimmy” Armstrong.
a time to embrace, a time to gain… a time to love Those remaining to cherish her memories in her natural family include her children: Evelyn Oats Robinson (Willie), Judy Gingles (Collie), Kenneth Glenn (Vanessa), Kaye Glenn, Marvin Glenn (Janice), Macie Clary, Teresa Glenn, and Vernon Glenn; Her siblings: Bill Ward, Richard Armstrong, Betty Armstrong Carter, Phyllis Armstrong Scott, Lawrence “Larry” Armstrong, and Michael “Mike” Armstrong; her sisters-in law: Ivory Graham, Patricia Andrews, and Eloise Glenn; one aunt, Edna Wise; dear cousins Mary Frances Williams and Kathleen Williams. Her grandchildren (37), her great grandchildren (67), and her great-great grandchildren (23) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her surrogate children: John Dawkins, Shirley McClinton, Miranda Thomas, and Kathy Bratton

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My thought and prayers are with you, the bible does provide us with comfort and hope during times such as these. Revelation 21:4 says that God will wipe every tear from our eyes and death and pain will be no more.

Thinking of you and praying for your family. John 14:1-6King James Version (KJV) 14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Death is like sleep in that the dead are unconscious and cannot do anything. However, the Creator of life can bring the dead back by means of a resurrection. In proof of that, Jehovah empowered Jesus to raise several dead people to

I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Rest assured that God cares for all his creatures and he would never bring us suffering. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 which reads: “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems, accidents, and sickness. Even our dead loved ones like precious Mama Pete will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; John 5:28, 29) With all my sympathy for the loss of someone so dear.

My deepest sympathies on your loss. May you find strength from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
