Loretta Ann Isom Floyd was born July 30, 1960 in York County, South Carolina and departed this life on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Saturn Nursing and Rehabilitation, Charlotte, North Carolina.  She was the daughter of Mrs. Mable Elizabeth Thomas Isom and the late Mr. William James Isom, Sr.

Loretta was born and raised in Liberty Hill AME Zion Church where she had previously served as a member of the Young Adult Choir and the Voices of Praise.  Affectionately known as “Retta” and “Lo”, she loved life and people!  Loretta was often the “life of the party.”  She had a big personality and was kind-hearted who would do anything for you if she could.  She loved her family and friends  - ending each phone call with “I love you!” “Retta” will be deeply missed!

Besides her father, Loretta was preceded in death by a daughter, Charetta Anderson.

In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish fond memories her two daughters, Cheneka Floyd of Gastonia, N.C. and Porsha Little of Charleston, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Jackie Baxter (Rev. M. N.) of Rock Hill, S.C., Mrs. Sarah Ussery (Roy), Ms. Penny Tate, and Mrs. Annette Green (Allen) all of Gastonia, N.C. and Ms. Hattie Massey of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Rev. James Isom, Jr. (Cynthia) of Gastonia, N.C. and Mr. Juan Isom of Huntington, W.V.; special cousin/brother,  Mr. Charles R. Thomas of Gastonia, N.C.; three grandchildren, Chaviaus Floyd and  Raekwon Floyd-Crumpton of Greensboro, N.C. and Mercedes Leach of Gastonia, N.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Our deepest sympathies on your loss. May you find strength from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
