Mr. Theodore Jordan, Sr. was born on December 5, 1936 in Rowan County, North Carolina to the late Prather and Estelle Phifer Jordan.  Mr. Jordan passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Salisbury, North Carolina.

As a member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, he served as an Assistant Preacher’s Steward, a member of the Steward Board and was in charge of the Tape Ministry.  As a member of Trinity-Unity A.M.E. Zion Church, Gastonia, North Carolina, he served on the Trustee Board, Men’s Booster Club, Lay Council and on the 134th Trinity Anniversary Committee.  He was a member of the Swanks Club and served as the Treasurer for fifteen plus years.  He was also a member of the J.C. Price High School National Alumni Association.

Mr. Jordan was educated in the Rowan County Public Schools in North Carolina.  He graduated from J.C. Price High School in Salisbury, North Carolina “Class of 1954”.  He attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina.  He joined the United States Air Force and served twenty-two years.  He later worked for the United States Postal Service as a Post Master for fourteen years.  Mr. Jordan also worked at Gaston Skills helping disabled children and later retired in 1992.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Love Jordan; sisters, Viola Spratley, Mildred Jordan and Barbara Walker; brothers, Ralph Jordan, Roy Jordan, Nathaniel Jordan, William Jordan, Henry Jordan and John Frank Jordan; aunts, Ms. Larnelle Phifer and Mary Jordan; granddaughter, Chambré Jordan and great grand, Ená Else Necole Holoman.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his daughters, Rhonda Wilks (Terry) of Salisbury, N.C., Tammie Jordan Taylor of Gastonia, N.C. and Sandra M. Cheeks (Curtis) of Winston Salem, N.C.; sons, Theodore Jordan, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C. and Anthony T. Holoman of Winston Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Cedric Francis, Twin Jordan, Niya Wilks, “Little” Marilyn Jordan (Avery), Theodore Jordan III, Anderson Jordan, Dominique Wilks, Chrishaunna Holoman, Jalessa Wilks, Jay Carpenter, Antwonya Cooper, Tyrell Jordan, Brittany Holoman, Cortillia Holoman, Shablonda Jordan, Antonio Pledger and Theodore Turner; great grandchildren, Destiny Jordan, Isiah Holmes, Christian Holmes, Kennedy Barnes, Kaycee Williams, Quantay Jordan, Kaden Holoman, Jahquezz Pledger, Arianna Jackson, Vanity Tolliver, Jaidyn Cooper, De’Rya Jenkins, Nyla Wilks, Llord Byrom, Kyden Blackwell and Kyne Jenkins; sisters, Irene Jordan and Virginia Simmons of Philadelphia, PA; brothers-in-law, Samuel D. Love (Hazel) of Charlotte, N.C. and Prentiss W. Love (Bessie) of Sumter, S.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

VISITATION:
The family will receive friends at the church for thirty minutes prior to funeral.
(1:30 until 2:00 P.M.)
