The Obituary

Lovalyn Jerene James was born on November 28, 1952, to the parentage of the late Wilton James, Sr. and Earnestyne P. James in Tylertown, Mississippi. She departed this earthly life on September 27, 2017 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Lovalyn became a member of Columbia Valley United Methodist Church at a young age and remained a faithful member until death. She served with much joy and commitment as an officer and member in many of the auxiliaries of the church, including, Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Musician, Beautification Committee, Worship Committee, and Hospitality.

Lovalyn affected many young lives through her career of teaching school and by being an accomplished piano instructor. She was a very giving person and showed lots of “love.” Henceforth, she was affectionately known as “Lady Love.”

Lovalyn was a graduate of Columbia High School. One of her greatest accomplishments was most prized achievements was receiving a degree in Elementary Education from Jackson State University. She was a diehard fan and proud member of the JSU Alumni Association; truly a “Tiger” at heart. She continued her education at William Carey University, a Master’s Degree in Education.

The precious memories of Lovalyn will be cherished by: two brothers, Wilton (Janice) James, Jr. of Columbia, Mississippi and Dushyanta (Brenda) James of Irving, Texas; five nephews, Craig (Carmeshia) Cain, Wilton(I’sha) James III, Gabriel (Marlo) Ball, Dante James, and Jalen James; a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
