Nathaniel “Nate” Harris was born April 8, 1949 to the late George and Maggie Davis Harris.  He departed this life Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his home in Lowell, North Carolina.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell, North Carolina where he served as a Trustee and would help in whatever capacity he could.  Nathaniel grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Morgan Elementary and later graduated from Harding High School.  After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps where he held the title of Staff Sergeant.  Nathaniel served three tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.  He was a War Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal w/device, Good Conduct Medal twice, and the Cross of Gallantry w/palm Medal.  When he returned home he enrolled into Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) where  he studied Political Science.  He was employed at the Pneumafil Cooperation and Harris Teeter Warehouse in Charlotte, North Carolina, also Gaston Sheet Medal Company in Gastonia, North Carolina.  He moved to Gastonia, North Carolina in the late Seventies where he met and later married his wife Arnetta Wilson Harris.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted and loving wife, Arnette Wilson Harris of the home; daughter, Alisha Furbush (Kevin) of Gastonia, NC; son, Anthony Reid of California; two step-daughters, Sharon Wilson-Linney (Randy) of Gastonia, NC and Marrika Anderson Meeks (Brandon) of Charleston, SC; three stepsons, Jocqueus Wilson (Lawanda) of Charleston, SC, Calvin Byers and Ricky Anderson, Jr. both of Gastonia, NC; four grandchildren and eleven step grandchildren;  three sisters, Leola Harris, Peggy Woods and Doris Chenshaw all of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Herman Harris of Lincolnton, NC and Adrian Harris of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, Artruer Wilson (LeWanda) of Gastonia, NC; one uncle, Charlie Davis of Charlotte, NC; ten nieces, three nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to funeral.
(2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.)

    I am sorry for your pain, and loss. You can find real comfort in what God has promised, such as in John 5:28,29. He promises that he is going to resurrect all those who have ever died, back to life again here on earth. And all the things that cause us sorrow, pain, and even death, will be gone forever.
