Mr. Eric “Ezee” Renard Smith, 32, was born on April 2, 1985 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and departed this life on January 18, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Shelby N.C. He was the only child of the late Reginald C. Smith and Sandra A. Meeks.

Eric was a talented artist and passionate husband and father.  His dedication to family invigorated him to work hard to create a strong domestic foundation for his wife and child. His artistic influence can be appreciated in the many artful renderings throughout his home. In addition to being passionate about his family, some of his hobbies were learning about cars, collecting sneakers, and having the latest gadget.  Eric was deeply loved by all and will be remembered for strong commitment to his family and friends.

Eric graduated from Bessemer City High School in 2003. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Graphic Art Design from Kings College in Charlotte, NC in 2004. He was employed for many years at Cloninger Ford of Hickory where he was a valued member of their staff.

ERIC SMITH, YOU MY FRIEND ARE MISSED BEYOND WORDS! YOU HAVE ONLY BEEN GONE A FEW DAYS AND IT HASN'T BEEN THE SAME WITHOUT YOU AT WORK. THE WAY YOU PICKED ON EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOUR CO-WORKERS YOU REALLY LEFT YOUR MARK ON ALL OF OUR HEARTS IN YOUR OWN WAY. IT WAS AN HONOR TO BE YOUR CO-WORKER AND FREIND! YOU HAD AN INFECTIOUS SMILE AND COULD ALWAYS GET ME LAUGHING EVEN IF I WAS HAVING A BAD DAY BY JUST BEING YOUR SILLY SELF. THANK YOU ERIC FOR ALL THE MEMORIES, I WORKED WITH YOU FOR QUITE SOMETIME AND THIS HAS BEEN VERY HARD TO DEAL WITH. IT'S STILL SURREAL!! REST EASY FRIEND!! MY HEARTFELT PRAYERS GO OUT TO T.T. AND ERIELLE. YOU TWO YOUNG LADIES WE'RE HIS WHOLE WORLD!!

Please accept my sincere regrets for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Revelation 21:4 says that God will wipe every tear from our eyes and death and pain will be no more.

We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29). No, not just a dream, but for a certainty he will do it, for Isaiah 55:11 shows us that everything he says, he accomplishes without fail. You can find out more online at JW.ORG
