Modesto Armendáriz, 60, passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of January 20, 2018 surrounded by his friends and family. He was born on September 18, 1957 in Colonia Lazaro Càrdenas, Chihuahua, Mexico to Roberto and Celia  (Vivero) Armendàriz.  Papa Mo, as he was affectionately called, is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Esperanza Armendáriz; his son and daughter-in-law, Alberto and Denae Armendáriz, son and daughter-in-law, Vicente and Ashley Armendáriz, and daughter and son-in-law, Ariadne and Cody Jensen. Modesto was blessed with 7 grandchildren - Isabella Valadez, Ashton and Landon Jensen, Abrien, Isaiah, Elijah, and Luke Armendáriz.

Modesto became a naturalized citizen of the United States in December 1993, one of his proudest achievements.  During his retirement he sharpened his craft as an artist and created beautiful works of leather.

Throughout his illness he maintained stoic dignity. When it was time to go, he did so on his own terms.  He will be forever missing from our hearts.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018  from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Kirikos Family Funeral Home Chapel.  A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Arrey Community Cemetery officiated by Mr. Larry Castañeda.  Serving as Casket Bearers will be Alberto Armendàriz, Vicente Armendàriz, Daniel Armendàriz, Jesus Armendàriz, Alex Carreon and Cody Jensen.  Honorary Casket Bearers will be Roberto Armendàriz, Joshua Bleiweiss, Justice Bleiweiss, Daniel Gutierrez and Joe Gutierrez.

Espy, I am so saddened to hear of Mo's passing. He was such a fun & vibrant person & a joy to work with. He will be remembered fondly by so many people here @ Presbyterian. I will forever be reminded of him every time I look at the beautiful cabinet / vanity he custom made for my bathroom. It will never be removed by me because you can see the love it was made with & it will always remind me of 'MoMo'. God be with you & bless you & bring you comfort & peace.

We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29). No, not just a dream, but for a certainty he will do it, for Isaiah 55:11 shows us that everything he says, he accomplishes without fail.
