Andy Johnson Hardin was born on April 4, 1945 to the late Jake Johnson Hardin and Jessie Ellison Hardin.  He was reared by his beloved aunt and uncle, Elijah and Ruth Miller.  He departed this life Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, North Carolina.

At an early age Andy joined Friendship Baptist Church (presently, Friendship Christian Church) in Gastonia, North Carolina where he was a member of the Sunday School and Youth Groups.

Andy attended Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Upon returning home to Gastonia he enrolled at Creative Opportunities in Dallas, North Carolina’s where he was assigned Reever White as his caregiver.  Reever was instrumental in making Andy a part of the community.  As a volunteer Andy shared with others as a Meals-on-Wheels delivery person, folding linen at Gaston Memorial Hospital and visiting rest homes.

He was a man of very few words but had such a spirit of humbleness and gentleness.  Ephesians 4:2 reminds us, “Be completely humble and gentle; Andy was a kind and gracious soul.  His gentleness helped him to accept his limitation and ailments without taking out his aggravation on others.  He always showed gratitude for the smallest service rendered to him.  In the mist of sickness, hospital visits and final Hospice Care HE NEVER COMPLAIN!!!

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Ellison, Lavada Hannibal and Johnslene Jackson; brothers, Jacob Hardin and Donald Eugene Hardin, Sr.

Left to cherish Andy memories are his devoted sister, Elsie Hardin Jones of Gastonia, N.C.; brother, Dr. Phillip Kithcart of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Hattie Hardin and Maggie Hardin both of Gastonia, N.C.; former caregiver, Reever White and Rhonda Hardin both of Gastonia, N.C.; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. The bible does provide us with comfort and hope in times such as these. Revelation 21:4 says that God will wipe every tear from our eyes and death and pain will be no more.

We're so sorry to hear you are grieving the loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power". Yes our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.

Death is like sleep in that the dead are unconscious and cannot do anything. However, the Creator of life can bring the dead back by means of a resurrection. In proof of that, Jehovah empowered Jesus to raise several dead people to
