Brother George W. Wilson, Jr. AKA Sonny Boy, was born March 21, 1946 to Dollie Burgess Wilson and the late George W. Wilson, Sr., in Lamar, South Carolina.

 

Mr. Wilson was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator and Grader Foreman/Superintendent.  He was a proven leader, known by his work as he was a perfectionist.

 

Brother Wilson was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church for over 45 years where he was faithful until the Lord called him home.  During his tenure, he served on the Finance Committee over 35 years, a Steward, Steward Protem, Sunday School Scholar and Teacher.  He sang on the choir and was the church’s custodian and a dedicated driver for Sarah’s Kitchen.

 

He loved gardening, fishing, collecting coins, helping others and studying the Word of God, especially the Church School Lesson.

 

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, God dispatched His angels to summon Sonny Boy to rest in the promised mansion.

 

He was preceded in death by his:   Father, George W. Wilson, Sr.; Brother, Johnny B. Wilson, Sr.; Nephew, Teddy Wilson; and Sister-in-Law, Annie M. Robinson.

 

Those left behind to cherish George’s memories and carry on his legacy are his:  Wife of 53 years, Betty R. Wilson; Son, Gene Wilson, Sr. of Melbourne, FL; Daughters, Paula A. (Willie) Bellamy of Baltimore, MD and Jennifer L. Wilson of Fort Pierce, FL; Mother, Dollie  Burgess Wilson of Ft. Pierce, FL; Sisters, Corine Legette of Galloway, NJ; Gloria Wilson (William) Neloms of Ft. Pierce, FL and Brenda Wilson Brunson of Ft. Pierce, FL; Brothers, Freddie (Linda); Larry, Darrell and Christopher Wilson all of Ft. Pierce, FL; Jerry (Theresa) Wilson of Port St. Lucie, FL; Uncle, Aaron Burgess of Ft. Pierce, FL; Aunts, Dessie Benjamin, Dorothy Wilson and Jacqueline Burgess all of Ft. Pierce; Mother-in-Law, Betty Ballard and Brother-in Laws, John Robinson; Ben Earl Ballard and Robert T. (Barbara) Ballard.

 

Visitation for Brother Wilson will be held on:  Friday, February 23, 2018, from 3-6pm.  The Wake will be 6-7pm.  The Home Going Celebration will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018, 12:00pm.   All services will be held at:  at St. Paul AME Church, 1405 N. 27th Street, Fort Pierce.

Interment Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 N. US HWY 1.

 

All are welcomed to attend and celebrate our father’s life.
