A Time To Be Born

Sol was born on November 10, 1918 in Dawson (Terrell County), Georgia to Sol and Johnnie Hodges Knighton; both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by six siblings.

A Time To Learn

Sol attended the public schools of Terrell County, Georgia.

A Time To Worship

Sol accepted Christ and joined Rose Hill Baptist church in Graves, Georgia where he served as an Usher. Upon relocating to Ft. Pierce, FL in 1958, he connected with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. C. Byrd. He was a faithful member.


A Time To Serve

Sol was employed by MacArthur Dairy as a Mechanic until his retirement.

A Time To Love

Sol was united in Holy Matrimony with Melvina Clark, the love of his life, on December 31, 1939. To this union eight children were born. She preceded him in death after sixty-four years of marriage. One son, Silas, and one grandson, Trent, preceded him in death.

A time To Leave

Sol departed his earthly home February 20, 2018 at 2:45 PM, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, FL.

A time To Remember

Sol leaves to cherish his memories: Sons: Eugene (Cora), Rockledge, FL, Sol Jr., Ft. Pierce, FL, Arthur, Sr., (Olive), Ft. Pierce, FL; Daughters, Estelle (James) Fields, Miami, FL, Ethel (Benjamin) Robinson, Ft. Pierce, FL, Elizabeth (Frank) Gates, Crystal Springs, FL and Gwendolyn (Donald) Noble, Ft. Pierce, FL; One Sister: Dorothy (Lonnie) Williams, Ft. Pierce, FL; Brothers-in-law, James Clark, Atlanta, GA and Matthew  (Lydia)Clark, Oviedo, FL; one Sister-in-law, Wavle Roberts, Decatur, GA; Eighteen Grandchildren, Randall, Randy, Vonya, Melissa, Arthur, Jr., LaGuana, LaShonda, James III, Benjamin, Corey, Tamara, ArNitta, Allison, Ava, Anthony, Doneidre, Gisele and Ashley; twenty-Seven Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great Grandson; several Nephews, Nieces, Cousins; and a host of other relatives, friends and acquaintances .whose lives he touched in so many ways.

Visitation for Mr. Sol Knighton will be held on:  Friday, March 2, 2018, from 4-7pm at First Bethel Baptist Church, 506 North 11th Street, Fort Pierce, Florida 34950. The Home Going Celebration will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 1:00pm at First Bethel Baptist Church.  Interment Services will be held at Riverview Memorial Park.
