William Lee Fewell, affectionately known as “Bill,” was born August 25, 1927 in York County, South Carolina to the late Jack and Mamie Fewell. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina

In his early years, Bill was a Concierge at Cohn’s Children’s Shop, Vogue Dress Shop, Custodial Service worker at the AAA Travel Center of Gastonia and a Machinist at Westvaco Box Factory where he retired after forty-two years of hard work. In his later years he served his community as a Lawn Care Technician.

He passionately loved his family and was big on education; pushing his children to be their best. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church from his childhood and remained faithful and devoted until his departure to his heavenly home. He served in various roles over the years which include; Junior Usher Board Supervisor, Hymn Choir, Men’s Choir, Golden Circle Senior Ministry, Brotherhood, President of the Baptist Training Union, a committed Sunday School member and former Chairman of the Deacon board for many years and continued to serve as a Deacon afterwards.
Bill was willing to help anybody! No matter who they were.

A man of great stature he was, as he took pride in being sharply dressed in his suits and hats and driving a nice clean car.  Bill was a “Ford Man” and if you needed a ride he made sure you got to and from your destination in that Lincoln Town Car.  He was a motivator and set a standard for his family of having a strong work ethic while being firm but fair to his children and those around him. Almost in every conversation, Bill would quote a verse from one of his favorite songs “Amazing Grace –Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come. Grace has brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home.”  In all that he did Bill showed forth kindness to those he came in contact with.  We will forever be impacted by the lasting effect of the caring, gentle and kind character of William Lee Fewell – “Bill”

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Nancy Hall Fewell; five brothers, George Mason, Walton Mason; Mose, Jack, and Earnest Fewell; grandson, Tavares Carroll; and great granddaughter, Camille Boulware

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories: One daughter, Mae Carroll (Billy) of Gastonia, NC; five sons, William H. Fewell of Forest City, NC, Benjamin N. Fewell, Michael T. Fewell, Johnny X. Fewell (Marsha) and Manning L. Fewell (Natasha) all of Gastonia, NC; Two Sisters, Mary Holland of Gastonia, NC and Juanita Byrd of Willingboro, NJ; sisters-in-laws: Martha Woods and Daisy Hall both of Gastonia, NC; Seventeen grandchildren and a quiver full of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

we're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection. ~~~You are also cordially invited to the memorial of Jesus death. The means by which the promise of a paradise is possible. Saturday March 31st, 2018 at 7:30 pm. Location : Gastonia Conference Center, 145 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Gastonia, NC 28052
