Mrs. Boffie Temple Harrison Washington
was born on March 7, 1943 to the Late Nathaniel Harrison, Sr. and the Late Pastor Mother Hortense Savilla Potillo Harrison in Brodnax, VA. 

She was called home on March 2, 2018 in the home of Takesha Hicks LaCrosse, VA.  Boffie was married to the Late Clarence Washington on June 16, 1968 in Newark, NJ.  Boffie was reared in Brodnax, VA and attended schools in the Brunswick County Public School System.  She was a graduate of James Solomon Russell High School.  She attended both St. Pauls College of Lawrenceville, VA and North Hampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA.  Boffie attended Mount Herman Baptist Church of Brodnax, VA at an early age.  Thereafter, her mother moved the family’s membership to Mt. Sinai Christian Antioch Church of God in Christ, Brodnax, VA under the leadership of Mother Sallie Richardson.  Boffie relocated to Newark, NJ, and attended Williams Temple Christian Antioch Church in both Brooklyn, NY and Newark, NJ. 

Her life’s journey continued to Bethlehem, PA.  She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church under the late Pastor Marshall Griffin where she enjoyed singing in the Senior Choir.  During her final years she lived in Brodnax, VA, and attended Southside Harvest Church, where the Pastor is Wanda Stowers.  Boffie enjoyed participating in activities at the Club House in Bethlehem, PA.  Boffie always had a candy stash!  She worked at New Vitae Convenience Store. Boffie loved to write. She wrote the church’s Christmas play entitled “The Birth of Jesus.”  Later in life, she began to write her own biography.  Boffie read her Bible, and studied her Sunday School lessons every day.  She liked to get dressed up.  She had a special love for small children, and enjoyed having dialogue with the little ones.  Boffie enjoyed walking for better health.

Boffie was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Washington; her sisters, Josie Lee Sharp, Frances Lofton and Ida Baskerville; her brothers, Nathaniel Harrison, Jr. and Thomas Jimmy Harrison.  She leaves to mourn her sisters, Minister Minnie Magdline Walker and Deaconess Virnel Hart of Brodnax, VA; her brother, Deacon Matthew Harrison, Sr. (Deaconess Virginia) of Bethlehem, PA, and her sister-in-law, Mother Barbara Harrison of Brodnax, VA; stepchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including her godson, Jeffrey Harrison.  Special recognition is given to her niece, whom she called her Best Girl, Shelia, and great nieces Shemetra, Demetrya, and final caregivers Takesha, Shavarya and Ronesha

    I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.
