Mrs. Amanda B. Clark, 76, died Sunday, March 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church in Axton, VA. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Amanda, was born in to the late McKinley “Boots” Blackstock and Betty P. Blackstock on May 31, 1941.  After a short illness, Amanda departed her earthly life on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Amanda “Mandy” was educated in the Rockingham County School System and graduated from Douglass High School of Eden, NC.  Amanda started a career with Fieldcrest Mills as a young adult and then retired.  After retirement she began volunteering at the Goodwill Industries for several years.  Amanda was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Axton, VA. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Betty Blackstock, her husband, David Clark, her two sons, David Lavon Clark and Derrick Clark, four brothers Ivory Artis, George Blackstock, McKinley “Mack” Blackstock Jr., and Darnell Blackstock and three brother in laws, Charles Simmons, Jonathan Artis, and Billy Artis. Amanda leaves to cherish her memories her youngest son Anthony Lynn Clark of the home, her granddaughter T’Kia D. Clark, her grandson Anthony D. Harvey, her great grandson King J. Gaules, her two sisters; Betty Jean Dillard of New York, Roberta Rucker (Arthur) of Eden, NC, four brothers; Bobby Blackstock (Clara) of Eden, NC, Herbert Blackstock of Eden, NC, Hubert Blackstock (Faye) of New York, and Lockwood Blackstock of Eden, NC, her loving in-laws; Ronnie(Vonzella) Artis, Wayne (Denise) Artis, Michael (Michelle) Artis, Coley Simmons, Lonia Artis, and Esther Artis, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    I always loved Amanda. She was a very beautiful and sweet person. We worked together at decorative bedding Fieldcrest Mills for many years. She will be missed.

    The passing of your beloved Amanda is a daunting experience for your family. However, the Bible offers Amanda the hope of a resurrection. Since it was never God’s original purpose for anyone to die but live for ever. Our Heavenly Father arranged for his purpose for us to live when a person dies. He sent his son Jesus who gave his life so all would have the hope of a resurrection. Acts 24:15 assures us of this it states, “there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous” and at this time God will remember every detail about Amanda and bring her back.     To the family of the late Mrs Amanda Clark, it is with heartfelt sympathy I send condolences and prayers in the passing of your loved one. I remember working with her at Fieldcrest many years ago. She was a very meek and gentle in spirit. She will greatly missed. May God continue to strengthen your heart in the days to come.
