Mr. Arvester Smith, 65, of Oakvale, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi.  He was the son of the late L. B. and Almedia Smith.  He was a member of Progress Union Baptist Church.  

He was a retired educator who was an Alumni of Alcorn State University and a true Alcornite fan.  He loved to fish, go to ballgames and travel.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2018 at New Zion M. B. Church at 2pm. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 

He is survived by: sons, Christopher Gholar of Gulfport, MS and Nicholas Seth of Jackson, MS; daughter, Lisa Hall of Oakvale, MS; brothers, Clester Smith and Mathlee Smith both of Oakvale, MS; sisters, Joyce Minor of Oakvale, MS and Darlene Jefferson of Hermitage, PA.

Visitation will be Friday, March 16, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1-8pm and Saturday at the church, 1-2pm.
