Elease Clyburn was born to the late John and Lucy Clyburn Sr. on April 23, 1925 in Aberdeen, NC. On March 13, 2018 she went to sleep in Jesus, whispering the words of Psalms 23, surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in life by her husband, Ivery Cornelius, one daughter Pennie Cornelius Holder, two grandsons Jonathan and Matthew Jones, one great grandson Jordan Jones, three sisters, Bessie Hariston, Viola Young, Geneva Brown and one brother John Clyburn Jr. At the age of six, her family moved to Greensboro, NC. She started her education in Greensboro Public Schools, graduating from High School and later taking courses as an adult at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC). Along with her family (parents and sister) Elease was baptized into the East Market Street SDA Church after accepting the Advent message at an Evangelistic tent effort by Elder E.E. Cleveland. Later she would enjoy colporteuring and sharing the gospel throughout the State of Florida. When she returned to Greensboro, her best friend, the late Sally Miller, introduced her to Ivery (Buck) Cornelius of Mooresville, NC. They soon married and their union was blessed with seven children. They were driven through their dedication and commitment to the Lord to ensure each one of their children had the opportunity to receive a christian education. Elease was an active member of the East Market Street Church. Over the years she served as the Jr Sabbath School Superintendent, Personal Ministries Leader, Choir Member, Deaconess, and Pathfinder leader. Along with her sister Geneva, they started the East Market Street Service Club known as the Ladies Auxiliary, a group that is still active today. Through the years Ms. Cornelius was a true servant, demonstrated through her work as a Rest Home owner/provider for the elderly and a Certified Nursing Assistant. Later she opened a Day Care Center, and shared her light and message blessing hundreds of children, teaching them about the love of Jesus. She leaves behind to continue her legacy, two sons, Freddy Cornelius and Steve Cornelius; four daughters, Denise Cornelius Foster (Roy), Linda Jones (Stephen), Shelia Cornelius and Kathy Cornelius Taylor (Reginald); two sister-in-laws Nellie Works and Daislee Bryant and brother-in-law Earl Cornelius (Eva); 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great, grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A service honoring her life will be held at Seventh Day Adventist Church; 1804 East Market St. Greensboro, NC 27401 on Sunday, March 18th 2018.  The visitation will begin at 12:30 pm and the service will follow at 1 pm.  The internment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 North O'Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NC 27405.
