Mrs. Rubye Lawhon McLaughlin was born in High Point, NC on October 14, 1933. She was the youngest child and daughter born to her parents, the late Willie and Martha W. Lawhon. She transitioned from this earthly life to Heaven on March 24, 2018 peacefully with family at her side.

Her early formal education was received from the High Point City Schools, graduating from William Penn High School. After high school, Rubye attended and graduated from Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio where she was an honor student and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Graduation from Wilberforce led her to marriage to her husband, the late William M. McLaughlin of Pittsburgh, PA who was her greatest supporter. Rubye and Bill as everyone knew them resided in Philadelphia and vicinity until 2012, when Bill went to be with the lord. Together they were avid world travelers and supporters of many social causes.

Preceded her to heaven was one brother, Jasper S. Lawhon, Sr.; one sister, Margarette L. Needham.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Mrs. Mildred L. Ingram of High Point, NC and Mrs. Inez L. Turner of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends who celebrate her life.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1730 W. English Rd. Entombment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the mausoleum from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

May Jehovah sustain you at this time of such great loss. God has resurrected humans in the past. The Bible reports eight instances of humans -young, old, male and female- who were brought back to life on earth. Some had been dead for a short while, but one had been in a tomb for four days-John 11:39-44. This account and more information is available at our website
