To those who do not believe in God – Life on earth is the best there is. For the non-Christian, it is only natural to strive for the world’s values. For the Christian it is different. – “To die is gain” What do we gain?  We Gain a better body – a glorified, immortalized, resurrected body.

In this present body of clay, we are subject to all the sorrows and tears that life is heir to. Age, sickness, and finally death is the inevitable end of this house made of the dust of the earth. But in death and the resurrection we gain a better body, one that can never grow old, know disease, suffer pain, and can never die. We gain a better body. We Gain a better home.

It is with profound sadness that The Harrington Funeral Home Staff, bow with humble submission to the will of our heavenly Father, we deeply along with The Shumphard Family are sadden by the passing of:

Sister Eddie Mae Jackson Shumphard (92) an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her, they knew of her great wisdom and strength  - But most of all we rejoice that she was a Child of God.

She was educated in the Valdosta City Schools System and a former employee of the South Ga. Peacan Factory, then later became a domestic home engineer.

On Thursday, March 29, 2018 – God saw her laying in that bed, she as many times before tried so hard to hold on. But God put his arms around her and lifted her to rest – He was calling her home, for he needed another angel to fill an empty space in his garden. God’s garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best.
