Rosie Lee Williams, 87, passed away at Providence Hospital-Sierra Campus in El Paso, Texas on April 19, 2018.  She left this world to reunite with her husband, Ken and many loved ones in Heaven.

She was born on April 7, 1931 in San Saba, Texas to John Wesley Smith and Mary Alcy Smalley.  Rose married Ken (Hubert Kenneth Williams) in 1948 and they had five children, three sons and two daughters.  Ken and Rose moved to Truth or Consequences in 1969.  They opened a donut shop and café that was a favorite with locals, law enforcement, Border Patrol agents and truckers because they opened at 5:30 a.m.  Rose became known as the “Cake Lady” who made wedding, birthday and specialty cakes that were works of art.  In 1977, Ken and Rose bought the Winston General Store and ran it for 18 years.  They were an integral part of the community and a major part of the group that founded the Winston Country Church under the leadership of Pastor Jack Cain.  Granny Rose, as she was known to all, loved sewing for grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching Vacation Bible School and being with her family.  After Ken died, Rose moved to T. or C. and lived on the farm with her daughters, Debbie and Bobbie.  She also attended the T. or C. Church of Christ.

Rose is survived by sisters - Alice Lehnert of Denver City, Texas and Marie Pierce of Chandler, Texas; brother, Butch Smith, of San Saba, Texas; son, Colon Williams (Shelley) of Maple Valley, Washington; daughter, Bobbie Sullivan (Charles) of Winston; daughter, Debbie Paxon (Jim) of T. or C.; son, Michael Williams (Sharlett) of Las Cruces; and son, Keith Williams (Georgia Beth) of North Pole, Alaska.  Grandchildren include Chip Welty, David Welty, Dallas Sullivan, Destri Bush, Brian Williams, Jacob Williams and Ashland Williams; step-grandchildren - Seree Spencer and Sabrina Stecklachick; numerous great-grandchildren; and one and one-half great-great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at Kirikos Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.  A Graveside Service will be held at the Dusty Community Cemetery on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Rose’s memory to the Winston Country Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 225, Winston, N.M. 87943.

We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
